Dr. Robert Kaplan and Dr. David Norton of Harvard Business School first introduced the balanced scorecard approach in the early 1990’s.  The balanced scorecard does not measure organizational performance simply through a financial perspective.  It also looks at performance through customer, learning and growth, and business process perspectives.

The Balanced Scorecard Model is called such as it takes into account factors other than financial performance when measuring success, thus it is “balanced.”  The model is simple, elegant, and easy to understand, but much more difficult to implement and utilize as a measurement tool.  Our methods incorporate our expertise in measurement, strategy, and decision support to provide you with a holistic evaluation of your company’s performance across a wide variety of organizational dimensions.  One tool we may use within each of the perspectives in the Balanced Scorecard Model is a scorecard evaluation matrix to weigh alternatives against each other . . .
