Message from the President & CEO

By Chris W. Brussalis

"The industrial landscape is already littered with remains of once successful companies that could not adapt their strategic vision to altered conditions of competition."

Abernathy

This quote should resonate with any business executive, principal or owner because the ability to not only manage internal change but to also adapt to changing external environments is critical in today's business world. To be successful, companies must adopt the philosophy that change is not only inevitable but also crucial to survival.

Change has been something we at THE HILL GROUP have experienced first-hand over the summer months. First, we moved our offices. We also hired several new full-time associates during the move. Furthermore, we started a few substantial long-term engagements. So we were adapting to our new physical surroundings. Our employees were adjusting not only to a new work environment but also new team members. All this was occurring while we were adapting to the needs of several new clients. Needless to say it was an eventful summer!

If there's one thing we learned from this experience it is that change is, for all intents and purposes, a very good thing. It is change that keeps us on our toes and allows for us to grow as people and, corporately speaking, as a business. Static environments breed complacency while dynamic environments inspire creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. With all that being said, we felt it was appropriate to have this edition of our newsletter focus on change management.

We hope you find value in this issue's articles. We also hope the articles can help you through a personal or professional change you may be undergoing as you read this.
