Welcome Interns

Recently, THE HILL GROUP has been fortunate to retain the talents of four interns with diverse knowledge and experience, adding value to our in-house capacity as well as our practice areas.

Meghan Friel is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh where she is studying for a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (Finance) and Statistics. She has done work for Tetra Tech Nus, Inc. as a statistics intern and Bombardier Transportation in the area of finance. Meghan is active in her community, having worked as a Volunteer Counselor at Camp Dreamcatcher, Student Ambassador for the Lyons Club International Student Exchange Program, and member, Treasurer, Sisterhood Chair, Alumni Relations Chair, and Community Service Volunteer for Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. While at THE HILL GROUP, Meghan was instrumental in areas including statistical analysis on various strategic marketing projects, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small community development organizations. Meghan plans on doing graduate work or diving into the world of business with an emphasis on statistics upon graduation next year.

Lauren Deschamps will be entering her sophomore year at Wheeling Jesuit University, where she is studying for a Bachelors of Science in Business Management with minors in Economics/Finance, and Political Science. Though Lauren has only one year under her collegiate belt, she has been instrumental in both academics and sports. Lauren is a member of the LAUT honors program, which recognizes students of high academic caliber. An active soccer player, Lauren has established herself as a center mid-field force on the Division II Cardinals where she received All-Conference Honorable Mention. She also is the Captain for the Pittsburgh Strikers, a club soccer team in Pittsburgh, PA that plays over the summer. Lauren will be assisting THE HILL GROUP this summer primarily in the areas of marketing, strategic planning, and business development. After graduation, Lauren would like to work in the political arena, leveraging her business acumen with her political interests.

Hillary Getty has finished her sophomore year at West Virginia University, where she is studying for her Bachelors of Arts in Pre-Journalism and Broadcasting. Hillary is extremely active on campus, dedicating herself as the Recruitment Chair for Pi Beta Phi Sorority, as well as various activities associated with the Broadcasting Club. In addition, Hillary has sharpened her community service skills while at WVU. As a volunteer at the Links to Literacy program, she has been critical to the program's mission of ensuring literacy is a part of everyone's life. Her activities have included fundraisers, book donations, and reading to children. Hillary will lend her expertise to several areas of THE HILL GROUP including marketing and communications, business development, and business support projects. Once graduation rolls around, Hillary plans on becoming gainfully employed in the world of production at a television station. As the sister of one of our premier workforce consultants, Alyson Getty, we are sure Hillary will be jumping into her role with both feet.

Finally, we have the honor and privilege of having Travis Deschamps with us for another summer internship. Travis is due to complete his senior year at the distinguished academic institution of Notre Dame. Although Travis is majoring in Biology, he is more of a "Renaissance Man" than anything else. Indeed, if Travis could create a new major in Bio-Tech with an emphasis in "King of the World Business Strategy Development for Those who have Vision, Intellect, and a Commitment to Excellence", we're sure he would lead the charge. It may go without saying that Travis is an academic superman but in his spare time between re-engineering and challenging the academic powers that be, he enjoys intramural tennis and racquetball. While at THE HILL GROUP, Travis will be actively engaged in areas related to technology and strategy, both in house and with client organizations. When Travis moves into the so-called "Real World", he will likely be found at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University or another top-flight university, at least for a short time. After which, we're convinced he will be perhaps one of the youngest CEOs at a major Fortune 100 company. We only hope that he remembers us down the road.
